About Us

This Week in Hot Springs is a weekly flyer published and distributed in Hot Springs, Arkansas by Charles and DeAnn Almond. They also maintain this companion website, and write a blog about happenings in and around Hot Springs.

The Almonds also own Power Synthetics, an independent AMSOIL dealership, that sells AMSOIL premium synthetic motor oils and lubricants, as well as AMSOIL, Donaldson and WIX oil and air filters, Mother's automotive appearance products, NGK spark plugs and wires and TRICO wiper blades. They maintain a website, PowerSynthetics.com, that features these products, and they write a blog about synthetic lubricants.

The Almonds also maintain a third website, MyOrganicEarth.com, and a companion blog about the good earth, and all things living upon her. They also sell AGGRAND liquid organic fertilizers, and a premium line of ALTRUM nutritional supplements.

Charles Almond is originally from Fort Smith, Arkansas. He has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arkansas, and worked in the telecom industry for a number of years before starting his own business. His first love is cars and he has spent many happy hours under the hood of a vehicle. He formerly bought and sold classic muscle cars and often owned several at once, working on them in his spare time. Charles is currently recovering from a brain injury caused by encephalitis. He started life over again in January, 2006, relearning to feed and dress himself, walk, talk, read, write and remember. So far, he's doing a remarkable job!

DeAnn Almond is a native of Hot Springs, Arkansas. She is a gardener, an avid reader and an animal lover. She has a Bachelor's degree in fine art from Southern Arkansas University, and she enjoys painting, drawing, mosaic, carpentry and quilting. She is a collector of "stuff" who owns hunreds of books and enjoys history and historical fiction. Her favorite thing in the world is cats and she currently has seven: Trouble, Kitty Fur, Chatty Cat, Matilda, Indigo, Griffin and Smokey Lonesome.

Here's what Charles and DeAnn have to say about being AMSOIL Dealers:

We've been AMSOIL dealers since 2003 and we love what we do. We use these products ourselves, and we believe in them.

We started our AMSOIL business in Dallas, Texas, where we made good friends and found loyal customers. Charles did oil changes in our driveway, and once word got out, we had more business than we could handle. Unfortunately, Charles' health failed, so we sold out in Texas and came back home to Arkansas to recover and re-build.

We're living in Hot Springs, Arkansas now and we can't believe how quickly we're finding new customers here. This oil is so good that it actually sells itself. In these times of inflated fuel costs, soaring repair costs and increased strife over foreign oil, AMSOIL just makes sense.

So our local business is growing, our national internet business is thriving, we're taking phone orders, we're even stocking a few products in our garage. Most of our new customers immediately want to become preferred customers, and some even decide to start dealerships of their own. Charles' health is improving (although slowly), and things couldn't be better.

This year, we'll be publishing and advertising locally to continue to spread the word about AMSOIL. We'll also be increasing our dealer network by hosting dealer meetings and conducting dealer training. And our internet presence will be bigger than ever, with an expanded website and a new blog.

We love hearing from customers, potential customers and friends, so please e-mail us or call us at (501) 525-6802. We appreciate your business and look forward to hearing from you.
